Di uno scrittore di uomini misteriosi

Releasing my first album Remedy was a huge moment for me, it had been a long time coming. Years in the making it was such a significant milestone in my career but I had been working towards it my whole adult life. So once it was out in the world I suddenly felt abit lost. Living in the midst of a global pandemic emphasised this and I needed something to focus on. I’m always writing new songs but I can’t yet imagine my next original project. I had always wanted to delve back into Jazz music, as I had grown up with it and studied it for years, but I never found the right moment. After learning the basics of recording and having my first ever home set up it just kind of happened. There was no pressure. (Apart from what I put on myself). I could just sing these songs that I have always loved and try and make them my own. So many singers that have influenced me over the years have done this; Eva Cassidy, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones - and this felt like the perfect moment for me to try myself. In a way, the songs speak for themselves, they are perfectly crafted - the melody, the words, the harmony. I didn’t have any desire to make it anything but simple, which for a home recording was ideal. It felt liberating and exciting to be making music again just for the sake of making music. I really hope people like my interpretation of these songs and it takes them away just for a little moment.
