The Extrema Ratio Misericordia was adopted by the 4th Alpine Parachute Regiment which helped to develop and test the product. It is a tactical fixed blade knife, extremely light and compact, it can be used both as a main knife or as a backup blade. The blade is made of Böhler N690 steel, heat treated to a hardness of 58 HRc, is 118 mm long, 4mm thick and has a flat edge. The profile is of the spear point type, with a full-length fuller that makes the blade even lighter and with a false miter at ¾ in length. The blade is available in the classic Extrema Ratio MIL-C-13924 black finish. The fiberglass reinforced nylon (FRN) handle has the classic Extrema Ratio grooves that make the grip safer and is fixed to the tang by means of a passing screw. On the rear end the handle flows connecting with a wide ring, which allows the use of martial arts techniques and ensures a very solid grip to the hand, equipped with a hard metal skull crusher appendix. The overall weight of the knife is just 87g. Being a knife designed for professional use, a lot of attention has been paid to ease of carrying, accessibility and extraction in case of need. The knife is secured to the sheath by a quick release safety that can be easily reversed for use by left-handers. The sheath is in high-strength Nylon, it is very versatile and two adjustable loops allow it to be fixed inside the loops of the MOLLE systems The sheath is equipped with a conical invitation to facilitate the re-insertion of the knife while a simple pressure on the trigger safety allows it to be extracted quickly and instinctively.
